The whole plot follows the beginning events of Metal Gear Solid 4, but there are a few exceptions, such as Solidus lives on from the fight with Raiden, Big Boss manages to get out of his artificial coma earlier and establish Zanzibarland, and a few other differences that a hardcore Metal Gear Solid fan will be able to notice.
